Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar was an American and British sitarist. She won the British House of Commons' Shield, which is the youngest and the first female to receive it. In addition to receiving nine Grammy nominations, she was also the first Indian-born musician to be a presenter and performer during the ceremony live. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She is the student of Ravi Shankar and is also his daughter. Born in London in 1982, and spent her early years shuttling to London in London and New Delhi. At the age of 13 she performed her first show at New Delhi. In Encinitas California in 1999, she was awarded an honorary high school diploma. While she's still young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording record. Since quite some time, she performs regularly alongside her father. In 1998, she released her first self-titled album Anourag. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. As she's appeared on every major stage in across the globe, she's stage career has been expansive. Anoushka Shankar's career is not only limited to performing in music. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her youth living between London and Delhi then moving to California where she attended high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration, Anoushka made her debut playing the sitar in front of the audience just four years after her 9-year-old father. The father of Anoushka travelled across the world with her and she also gained a variety of experiences. While still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the youngest woman to win the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament to recognize her talent and musicianship within performing in the Asian Arts.
